Nestled on a rolling ridge 1,000 feet up on Sonoma Mountain,
Panther Ridge Pinot Noir Vineyard enjoys the cool breezes from Petaluma balanced by warm summer days facing west and south on the mountainside. Overlooking Sonoma County below, the vineyard has been farmed organically from the outset, and we received our organic certification in December 2019. Beginning in 2019 we began practicing regenerative farming, using biodynamic preparations and working with the cycles of the moon and planets. We sell our grapes to boutique wineries and also produce our own ultra premium estate wine.
The rocky volcanic soils of Panther Ridge Vineyard have made for a slow start for the vines, but in the end they will be more vigorous, and the wines produced are nuanced and complex, with full body and an earthiness obtained from the vines' journey through the soils.
We are thrilled that our first vintage of Pinot Noir from 2019 received critical acclaim with two 95 scores! With just 45 cases produced, we are now sold out of that vintage, but rest assured there is more delicious wine in the pipeline.
Our 2020 vintage is just as robust and full of flavor as the 2019, but with softer tannins. We produced 250 cases of the 2020 Pinot Noir, and this will likely be our production going forward as we will sell more grapes to other wineries as production from the vineyard increases.
We grow two classic clones: Calera and 115, which complement one another beautifully. The Calera produces flowery, fruity wines, while the 115 provides more structure and depth. Together they combine to create an elegant, full-bodied wine with plenty of ripe red fruit, and with earthy undertones.
